Problems with M-theory?

I am not the only one who has wrestled with M-theory, its limited acceptance in the community, and its seemingly inevitable discredit. However, let's not dump it quite yet: Bars and Svetcos raise an essential point considering de-Sitter Space and its mass equivalency to Anti de-Sitter Space.

Might we find a way to unify M and P theories without resorting to >11 dimensions?
